Beautiful, strong, and rot resistant. White Oak is an economical wood that is prized by woodworkers. If you're looking for a gorgeous wood that works well with both machine and hand tools, you won't go wrong using this wood for interior and exterior projects. What colour is White Oak? The heartwood is a light to medium brown that often has an olive hue. The grain is straight with a course, uneven texture. You’ll commonly find this wood used in cabinetry, furniture, trim, flooring, boat building, barrels, and veneer. It’s by far one of our most popular woods so we offer it in a variety of sizes.

What does S4S mean?

S4S Lumber

Who are they for? These are ideal for those who aren’t equipped with the necessary tools to flatten and straighten boards.

The term "surfaced" or "dressed" refers to a piece of wood that has been milled. To achieve the necessary dimensions, we select a larger board to work from. Both faces and edges are then surfaced so you can be assured that the board is flat and straight. These boards are available in specific sizes.

For example: 3/4” x 5-1/4” x 24”

Rough Cut Lumber

Who are they for? These are ideal for those who enjoy working with machinery or hand tools to mill their own boards.

We use this term to describe boards that require additional milling. Rough cut lumber have been run through the planer to show the grain however they have not been dressed. You will need to mill both faces and edges. Rough cut lumber are available in specific lengths with varying widths.

For example: 4/4 x (5-6”) x 24”

You will receive a board that is just shy of an inch thick, with a width in the range of 5-6”, and is 24” long.

Not really satisfied with one of the boards…. Looks like it should be used for epoxy filling training. Not sure what I will be able to do with it. Not aligned with the quality I previously ordered and received. I will also reply to this email so you may make your own judgement.

A lot of checks in the boards so had to cut almost 6” off 1/4 of the boards . A couple curved boards. Wouldn’t buy online again. Not great value I don’t personally think. Will just go into my local shop from now on to make sure that I get what I’m paying for.

Virtually No Rift cut

Highest quality I've come across. So nice I ordered more. Building a machinist tool chest similar to a Gerstner where ¼ sawn is traditionally used. Prompt delivery too. KJP will be my go to for the lumber thats hard to find. I would recommend KJP to anyone, it's a cut above.

White but red

The wood order was for white oak but it was whitish red oak. It was ok to use for the project that I needed it for. The reason I'm saying is white oak has small grain pattern but red oak has a larger grain pattern. This is what I received.

Some of the boards are warped

Sadly some of the boards are not usable for my original project as they are warp badly. I had other products in my order that were perfect so it makes these unstraight boards a disappointment.

I liked the wood but my only complaint is that they aren’t labeled. I wish that a sticker with the name would be put on at least one of the thins of each variety. I ordered quite a few and it took me a while to figure out what was what. They are pretty much straight but I will be putting them under a heavy object to flatten them out more as my project needs very flat wood.
