Great first experience

I live on Vancouver island, and was surprised by the fact I can buy hardwood in Ontario, have it shipped all the way here, and the price is either the same or better than local dealers I’ve found. After my first shipment has arrived, I can also verify the quality of the wood is top notch. Thanks for making my first experience a great one. I’ll be ordering again soon.

4/4 Tigerwood Lumber Pack

I was a bit disappointed with the patterning in the boards.....only half of them had patterning, the others were plain.
I also had 2 boards which were twisted.

Beautiful looking pieces

I received beautifully grained looking pieces however five out of the seven boards were twisted bad and will need a lot of milling to get flat although they have to be milled anyway Because their choice wide pieces and they were full 1 inch thick so there’s room to bring them down to 3/4

Tiger wood

The wood has beautiful grain, 3 pieces are slightly warped, and 2 pieces are 3 inches at one end 2 1/2 inches at the other end, I had to reorder some to make sure I had enough to finish the project. Other than that the wood is awesome.

Tigerwood project board

I was extremely please with my gorgeous Tigerwood project board I received last week along with my other purchases! My special request was done and I received my parcel quickly and in A-1 condition. Definitely will be ordering from KJP in the future!!!

Description

Tigerwood is a very hard, strong, and durable wood that is excellent for indoor and outdoor projects!

You may also recognize this wood as Goncalo Alves. The heartwood is a nice medium reddish brown with dark brown or black streaking. Tigerwood darkens with age and typically has a wavy or interlocked grain. It is commonly used in a variety of larger projects such as furniture, cabinets, and flooring. It is also an excellent choice for building pool cues, archery bows, or knife handles.

Tigerwood has excellent weathering and rot resistant properties making it a good candidate for outdoor furniture.

*Although we try and make sure all the boards include some amount of black striping - often it is not possible on small pieces and instead you will receive the beautiful orange-brown / russett colouring that Tigerwood is known for.

If you would like to do the milling yourself - try our 4/4 Rough Cut Tigerwood Lumber for a more budget friendly version.

What does S4S mean?

S4S Lumber

Who are they for? These are ideal for those who aren’t equipped with the necessary tools to flatten and straighten boards.

The term "surfaced" or "dressed" refers to a piece of wood that has been milled. To achieve the necessary dimensions, we select a larger board to work from. Both faces and edges are then surfaced so you can be assured that the board is flat and straight. These boards are available in specific sizes.

For example: 3/4” x 5-1/4” x 24”

Rough Cut Lumber

Who are they for? These are ideal for those who enjoy working with machinery or hand tools to mill their own boards.

We use this term to describe boards that require additional milling. Rough cut lumber have been run through the planer to show the grain however they have not been dressed. You will need to mill both faces and edges. Rough cut lumber are available in specific lengths with varying widths.

For example: 4/4 x (5-6”) x 24”

You will receive a board that is just shy of an inch thick, with a width in the range of 5-6”, and is 24” long.
