Great for model airplanes, fishing lures, carving, musical instruments, and more.

These balsa thins sets are resawn from the same piece so the colour and density will match. We will provide you with 5 pieces of high quality thin Balsa wood. These boards are flat, straight, and ready for sanding.

Choose from:

  • 1/4" x 2-3/8" x 17-3/4" (set of 5 pieces)
  • 1/4" x 2-3/8" x 35-1/2" (set of 5 pieces)

They will require sanding and are coming directly from the bandsaw. Because Balsa is so light you should not have any problems getting them sanded to your liking.

This wood has a coarse texture and light, creamy colour that will provide a versatile base for any of your carving needs. Due to the incredible texture and density of Balsa wood, it can be prone to dents and marks if not handled with care.

Good balsa at a good price (including shipping)

I have been buying my balsa from this store for years, but this was my first “on-line”purchase. The 6 balsa slabs where straight, with no significant bowing and no warp which help in resawing thin strips (I don’t have a jointer). The weight was around 600 gr per 2” x 2 3/8” slab except for one at 475 gr. So fairly “hard” balsa, which I prefer anyway. But I have bought miscellaneous density in store where I could select the slabs. The shipping fee by courier was exemplary low making it basically not worth a drive across Ottawa. The balsa was wrapped in protective padded packing. I am very satisfied of the balsa and even more of the reasonable shipping fee. And I received the package within a few days.
