5/4 Maple Lumber
Maple is desired for its creamy white to light tan color with a tight, straight grain that gives it a smooth, uniform appearance and a natural sheen. These 5/4 boards are ideal for durable flooring, work benches, cutting boards, butcher blocks, musical instruments, veneer, baseball bats, and other turned objects.
Thickness: 1-3/16" thick
Width: 5″ wide
Length: 24″ or 47″ long"
Maple sapwood usually ranges from white to creamy off-white with a fine, even textured grain. There are many types of figure often seen including curl, bird’s eye and quilted grain patterns.
Maple works well with both machines and hand tools. However, it is quite unforgiving when planing against the grain and is prone to burning if your saw blades or router bits are dull.
It doesn’t get any more Canadian than this! With so many varieties of figure and dependable creamy color, this wood is a favourite for sure. The hardest of the maples and the tree that gives the sap to make tasty maple syrup.
Although these boards have been skipped dress to show colour and grain, they will still require some TLC and additional milling. If you would prefer to have the milling done for you - check out our S4S Maple Lumber.

You will receive a board that is just shy of an inch thick, with a width in the range of 5-6”, and is 24” long.
S4S Lumber
Who are they for? These are ideal for those who aren’t equipped with the necessary tools to flatten and straighten boards.
The term “surfaced” or "dressed" refers to a piece of wood that has been milled. To achieve the necessary dimensions, we select a larger board to work from. Both faces and edges are then surfaced so you can be assured that the board is flat and straight. These boards are available in specific sizes.
For example: 3/4” x 5-1/4” x 24”

Excellent, as usual
Great wood as always
I found the thins were always pretty good but the last two orders have been awesome, couldn't ask for nicer pieces of maple for my keepsake boxes.
Excellent wood
Great quality maple!
I was impressed with the quality
Flawless Maple Lumber
The wood arrived in perfect shape for my project.
Shipping was quick and easy. The wood arrived in perfect condition. The maple is beautiful and the milling is very clean. Happy customer, will use KJP again
The boards were excellent to work with and beautifully planed to spec
Great quality, very happy
I placed my first order with KJP Select Hardwoods over the internet just a couple of weeks ago. They were very responsive and kept me well informed of the progress of my order. I ordered a four foot length of 4/4 mahogany lumber an when it arrived I was very impressed. Even though it was advertised as rough cut lumber that had been only lightly milled it was actually cleaner and straighter than anything you would typically get from my local lumber yard as fully dressed lumber. When I looked at the cost of ordering from KJP versus driving to from Yarmouth to Halifax to purchase the same lumber from the nearest specialty hardwood store I found that KJPs shipping charges were actually less than the tank of gasoline I would have burned driving to Halifax. Needless to say I will be ordering all my exotic hardwood from KJP now.
I'm giving a 3 star rating only because of this situation. I've been VERY satisfied with my previous dealings with KJP. I don't know what more I can say!
nice dimensions spot on
Nice maple, tight grain, minimal defects.
First time ordering from KJP. 1/2 x 5 1/2 S4S maple ( 8 x 4 ft) arrived without damage. All boards finely finished. A couple boards have very slight warp: nothing one would not anticipate. Two have darkened knots on one side, which I will use for the inside surface of the project: minor issue. Overall, quite happy with the product received.
Top quality piece of maple for my project.
Awesome! Perfectly flat and ready to go
I ordered 1-1/2” thick S4S material online and unfortunately the material that arrived came with milling errors. Upon consultation with KJP they resolved the issue in a timely manor and resent new material without defects to remediate the issue. I appreciate the extra mile that KJP went to resolve the issue and provide me with quality material for my project always a pleasure having good customer service.
Hi there, we're so sorry to hear about your recent experience with our S4S Maple Lumber. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the milling being off and the boards being out of square. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality lumber, so we're glad to hear that the wood itself was great. Please get in touch with us at info@kjpselecthardwoods.com and we will make things right for you. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Great quality
Received my order fast, wood was of fantastic quality, no warped or cupped boards.
My 20 BF pack contained four boards that were 8 inches wide. The boards are straight and almost clear of knots and wane. Shipping was doen within a couple of business days of placing the order. I am very happy with the quality of the lumber and the service of KJP.
The seven boards (4'"x c.6 inches) that I received from KJP were fine quality. There were only a couple of knots and a small bit of wane. I am happy with the purchase and the service.
In mid-September I received a shipment of maple from KJP that had a couple of boards that I found completely unsatisfactory due to the number of knots, which precluded getting 24 inches of clear wood from the four foot long boards. I left a three star review, which caused KJP to contact me. After a small amount of back-and-forth, KJP replaced the two worst boards at their expense (except for 50% shipping). The replacement boards just arrived and are beautiful examples of maple lumber. So.... Thanks KJP! You stood behind your product.
Great product. Cheap fast shipping.
My order had a total of 10 four foot boards. The six 5/4 boards were okay though if I were selecting boards in person only three would have made the selection due to knots and two with wild, unattractive grain patterns that I don't associate with maple and that will be impossible to match in a panel glue-up. The 6/4 boards were very disapointing; one has a huge knot and torn-out edge (damaged) in the middle that makes it unusable for my project, as there is only 23 inches of clear board to one side of the knot and 11 inches on the other side. Only two of the four 6/4 boards are ones I would have taken if I had picked them up directly.
I ordered twice as much as I needed for the project and I am not certain I have enough really nice maple to complete the project.
S4S Maple Lumber
This product showed up just as advertised, that's a rare thing these days. I was worried because I like to choose my lumber for the best bits, but every piece in this order was good. Happy with my purchase.

Nice clean wood, packaged beautifully , arrived quickly. KJP never disappoints
Completely insufficient packaging. All boxes were open upon delivery.
48” maple boards measured 37 and 7/8
Hi James,
We ship hundreds of boxes a day and don't get this feedback so something must have happened. Also if you got 48' boards that were less than 47-3/4'- that is also an error. We are happy to replace or refund items when issues occur so please reach out to customer service to fix this for you.
Thank you,
Matt
Very nice wood. I bought it to cut up for segments in a bowl. It's very white and makes a beautiful contrast to darker woods!!
