This figured wood offers a distinct look for furniture and guitars!

Choose from 2 different sizes of our 4/4 Curly Maple Rough Cut Lumber Packs; 10 Board feet or 20 Board Feet. We will carefully handpick an assortment of boards in the pack size of your choice.

What should I expect in my Lumber Pack?

Although these boards have been skipped dressed to show colour and grain, they will still require some TLC and additional milling. If you would prefer to have the milling done for you - check out our S4S Curly Maple Lumber.

*We always try to include the widest boards we have available at the time that meet the Rough Cut Lumber Pack specifications. Approximate board count is based on an average size of 6" x 48". Curly maples have the colouring seen on the the individual species but then feature a curled grain pattern that is found perpendicular to the grain direction. The curls can be quite tight together or spaced further apart and are sometimes also called Fiddleback Maple or Tiger Maple.

Curly Maple works well, though a sharp hand plane will reduce the amount of tearout that occurs. It takes finishes and stains well and poses no difficulty in gluing.

This wood gets used in many different ways. From showcased as a main wood on instruments to accents on furniture. You can also find it used on turnings or other decorative objects. Curly Maple can really add a bit of punch to a project but be careful to over do it. A small cabinet with curly drawers can look elegant while an entire piece made from this figured would can be visually overwhelming.

Amazing Company, keep up the good work!!

I ordered 10 BF of ambrosia maple, and 10 BF of curly maple. I didn’t measure yet, but I’d say approximately 5 BF of the 20 BF order was curly ambrosia maple!! What I mean is, it was both ambrosia, and curly, in the same board. Never held anything so beautiful in my hands (don’t tell my wife I said that)
A few months back I got some hickory and tiger wood that was also amazing quality. I live on the other side of the country, and it’s worth ordering from these guys all day!! Keep up the good work guys, and thank you so much!! 😊

Figured maple is more than I expected

Figured maple is more than I expected. Quality is great.

Thin cut figured maple

This wood is for mandolin sides.
It has beautiful figure and even color on all the pieces I bought. The delivery was quick and all pieces were in good shape.

Nice figure, warped on arrival

Nice looking board but warped on arrival. Unusable for its intended project, but May be able to salvage it for something else. The roasted Birdseye S4S that came in the same order is perfectly straight.
