Ce bois de Noyer noir figuré est à ne pas manquer !

Parfois, en triant notre Noyer noir, nous tombons sur des figures uniques et rares et sommes en mesure de les séparer du bois ordinaire. Nous ne pouvons pas promettre d'en avoir toujours beaucoup en stock - mais vous pouvez être sûr que ces planches ont été sélectionnées pour leur figure et leur frisure sur une partie de la planche. Il serait rare que la frisure apparaisse sur toute la planche.

Bien que ces planches aient été dégauchies pour montrer la couleur et le grain, elles nécessiteront toujours un peu d'amour et de soins (TLC) et un usinage supplémentaire. Si vous préférez que l'usinage soit fait pour vous, consultez notre Noyer frisé S4S.

What is Rough Cut Lumber?

Rough Cut Lumber

Who are they for? These are ideal for those who enjoy working with machinery or hand tools to mill their own boards.

We use this term to describe boards that require additional milling. Rough Cut Lumber have been run through the planer to show the grain however they have not been dressed. You will need to mill both faces and edges. Rough Cut Lumber are available in specific lengths with varying widths.

For example: 4/4 x 6" x 24”

You will receive a board that is just shy of an inch thick, with a width in the range of 5-6”, and is 24” long.

S4S Lumber

Who are they for? These are ideal for those who aren’t equipped with the necessary tools to flatten and straighten boards.

The term “surfaced” or "dressed" refers to a piece of wood that has been milled. To achieve the necessary dimensions, we select a larger board to work from. Both faces and edges are then surfaced so you can be assured that the board is flat and straight. These boards are available in specific sizes.

For example: 3/4” x 5-1/4” x 24”

Hard to get a warp out of a 2ft board

Lucky that I am a true craftsman, others would not be so lucky. Straight boards would be appreciated in the future…

Good looking wood

As last time I ordered this wood is straight and dry.

This thick walnut was straight, true and square with sharp edges and very nice grain pattern. I bought some thins as well (walnut, paduak and maple) and all were excellent quality.

Planer left a small indent towards the end of the piece. Poor grain.

Gorgeous figuring

Beautiful pieces of wood. I finished one epoxy river charcuterie board with these pieces and can’t wait to get my hands on some more. Once oiled, the gorgeous figuring just pops! Love it!

I ordered 4 4/4 walnut boards and 3 were good, one was warped and not suitable for the use I intended

Ok, not great.

For this price - I would expect clear lumber that is mostly heartwood.
Of the 5 pieces I received more than 50% of the boards were sapwood. At least 2 of the boards had their entire face as Sapwood. Yes there is a time and a place for sapwood, but i assure you when we are buying S4S Walnut, we do NOT want sapwood.

It should also be of note that the ends of the boards had checking cracks.

I had high hopes for KJP, but I don't think I can order from them again.
