A guitar body blank is a piece of wood sized and dimensioned for routing and shaping into a complete guitar or bass body.

We carry sapele, figured maple, roasted ash, white oak, peruvian walnut, and more. Each species has different tonal and visual characteristics, so the right choice depends on the sound and look you're after.

Yes, but more subtly than on an acoustic. Body wood influences sustain, attack, and how notes decay. Mahogany-type woods like sapele produce a warm, full tone. Harder woods like maple and ash tend to be brighter and more articulate.

Most electric guitar bodies are between 1-3/4" and 1-7/8" thick. All our body blanks are listed with exact dimensions.

Yes. All our body blanks are kiln dried and ready for your build.

Our blanks are one piece. We have access to a wide selection of wood in our store, so we're able to hand pick pieces that are large enough to cover a full body template without gluing up.

Minimal. Our blanks are planed to expose the grain. You may need to bring them to a final thickness depending on your build specs. Allow the blank to acclimate to your shop's temperature and humidity for at least 48 hours before working with it.

Weight varies by species and piece. We list individual weights on select blanks so you can target a specific body weight before buying. 

Yes. If you need additional milling, include your specifications in the notes at checkout. A $10 fee will be added to your invoice after checkout.

Yes, but check the dimensions before ordering. Bass bodies are wider and longer than guitar bodies, so confirm the blank will accommodate your template before purchasing.
