Conocido como el "primo rústico" del nogal, el nogal blanco (Butternut) está estrechamente relacionado con el nogal negro y es un placer usarlo. El color varía de tostado claro a medio con líneas de veta contrastantes que forman patrones distintivos. La albura es de color amarillo pálido. La veta es bastante gruesa y tiene un brillo natural.
