I'm a woodturner who uses a lot of different size drill bits - Example are pepper mills which use 4 different sizes all while drilling end grain wood. As a tool junky I have tried everything out there. These last an INCREDIBLY long time, keep on lasting and are precise. Although expensive I will never buy other brands.
C’est exactement ce que je voulais pour des projets de poivrières
A. 10mm Extension Set-
1. Can be joined together ( for a really deep hole)
2. Cumbersome to use on a keyless chuck, especially on a lathe tailstock, as you have to wiggle the extension to get the chuck jaws to seat on the “flats” ( true with any 3-sided bit in a keyless chuck)
3. Beefy, compared to Colt extensions, a good design
B. 8mm Extension Set
1. Major design flaw- the drilled recess to accept the bit is too deep. If you insert one of the smaller bits all the way in until it “bottoms out”, only the rear set screws rest on the “flats”. The front set screws are only touching the round shank. I’m going to poke a piece of rubber into the recess, to fill the gap. This tells me that no one at the factory has tried boring a hole using the 8mm set with the smaller bits??
2. The pieces cannot be joined together, for deep holes
No Allen Key supplied, for tightening the set screws ??
I find the Colt Extensions much faster, as the extensions were available with Morse Taper shanks/ this is what you need for tailstock drilling but Famag doesn’t sell Morse Taper fittings ???
I don’t understand that??
A really nice “drill” bit. They are not the cheapest but they do an amazing job. Clean, precise holes. That’s all you can ask.
Mortising holes for timber frame joinery . Extremely fast with this 1.5” bit . Money well spent.
It’s a very good product for all wood application.
By far the best bits I’ve used. I use on a regular basis as a finishing carpenter. Precise, and they stay sharp for longer than any other bit I’ve purchased. Well worth the investment
I placed this order from Texas, United States and received in just a few days. The package was packed well (including some nice goodies) and arrived in great shape. The Famag-Bormax bits are high quality and worth every penny. I initially purchased a 5 piece Imperial set and was so impressed with the customer service and quality of the bits I placed a second order of Famag-Bormax bit (5 piece) in Metric. I would highly recommend Famag bits and KJP Select Hardwoods to anyone in need of quality items.
Can’t go wrong with this brand.
These bits make the nicest, smoothest holes I've seen with a Forstner bit, and with almost no tear-out. If I had one complaint, it's that I wish I had more of them, in bigger sizes. I'm not sure what I'll use the 1/4" to 1/2" bits for, but when I do, I know these ones will work.
I compared against an older basic Forstner, which ended up straight in the bin. The Famags are worth the price.
I use these Bormax Forstners on my wood lathe. Nice sharp cuts, they stay sharp, and I really like the hex shanks. The matching extension works great with all of the Bormax Bits.
I have bought from this shop a few times. They provide very good information online and the shipment is prompt. The product is exactly what describe. Highly recommend
KJP was super fast with the processing and delivery of my Forstner Bit Set from FAMAG. They work flawlessly and I am super-happy.
good happy with it
cut through 1.5 inch Cherry like a hot knife through butter. well worth the money
I purchased the Famag forsner bits for boring deep holes on a wood lathe. They cut a clean hole and do not heat up like my old forstner bits. I'm pleased with their performance.
i had been using Colt forstner bits and extensions. The famag are far better. they run cooler and the sides of hole are much cleaner.
I tried one the other day, absolute amazing, no binding or squealing, no buildup when drilling. These are now the only forstner bits I will use.
I bought some Famag Bormax 2.0 Fostner bits. The product ship very fast; it was as described. And work great. Will buy from here again, they have great high quality product for wood working.
Perfect tool, very sharp
No issues
The investment that every woodturner need to do. Drill in end grain like butter without heating like most forstner bit.
This is a very good bit and was supplied quickly from KJP
needed this for some acrylic. cuts clean.
Fast shipping. Bit is for hardwood kitchen cabinet hinges. Very sharp bit, cuts clean hole both in hardwood and plywood. Very happy with purchase, if I need more forstner bits in the future, this will be my brand
Recently ordered 2 odd size metric Forster bits from KJP select hardwoods. They are sharp and drill true. The price is very reasonable. 33 and 26 mm bits are not available in the US. Thanks you Canada.
I recently purchased a 35 mm Forstner bit and first used it to make drilling distance templates for cabinet door hinges using HDPE for the templates.
The holes were so clean, it looked like they had been routed. I then used the same bit to bore the cup holes in the doors and again, perfect. Well worth the price!
All good
Outstanding bit
I haven’t had a chance to use them yet but I expect they are of the usual high German standard
bormax de famag de tres bonne qualité
